Ford focus 1.8 TD injector pump
20.02.08 at 00:06:48

Hi  does anyone have any info on an injector pump in a 00 1.8td focus, 90,000 miles on the clock and she just stopped on the road. She gettin plenty of fuel to pump but seems to be starved of fuel when i crack an injector. shes bled out properly with the hand pump on the return pipe but jus doesnt seem to be gettin enough diesel to injectors
Any ideas? and how big job is it to fit injector pump? will a new one need to be taken to ford to get it programmed?
Cheers Sad

it hasn't got one

I would get a code scan done first, but I suspect this will be the pump at fault (codes P1564 and (I think, from memory) P1664 will almost certainly confirm it) it will need to be programmed but any properly equipped diesel specialist will be able to do this - last one I had done for a customer weighed in at about £1200 including the timing belt change

Try Fuel Injection Services Cardiff.  Did my Volvo 850 bosch pump for loads less than £700.  Shorts in Swansea quoted my £800 for a recon, it cost me about £200 in the end.

Diesel pumps are repairable at a reasonable cost.

it should be the 90ps endura diesel

in whuich case you wont need to code the injectors - they are on TDCi engines, not the older direct injection.

have you checked / replaced the fuel filternand checked you have no air leaks?

ps - often the hand primer seal fails and lets air in to the system - especially if its recently had a new fuel filter and been usede to prime up. - that will give similar symptoms I think.

check for air in the return line (using clear hose ). if so, change the primer head.  However hard to diagnose without looking at it.
