My rover 420DI bit high on emissions hopin it just needs a good thrash and some cleaner in it, anybody recommend a good diesel cleaner?

use Forte cleaner in the fuel system. Also remove EGR valve and use bottle brush to clean inside exhaust manifold, will probably be full of soot.Re-assemble then give it loads of revs and watch the black smoke pour out.I've had two of these diesel rovers and they were very good.I scrapped one at 165,000.Has a K-series heard of this mileage?

Me to, there a very very good reliable engine, unlike there petrol counterparts. Wink

Can you clean an EGR on the vehicle in the same way you can clean an idle valve by spraying cleaner into it with engine running?

rover diesels are always very smokey when revved if not driven hardish, just take it round the back and rev it till its nice and clean, um black floors!!

diesels are an L-series. And ive seen many K-series lumps with mega miles.
