can you get access to a bosch kts diagnostic?
these have a setting where you can let the ecu control the boost solenoid at a set idle speed to check if boost is ok.
not sure if these have the same variable vane turbos as used by their bigger brothers which cause the overboost fault.
also worth a check for wastegate solenoid sticking, vac faults, mechanical fault with actuator linkages/spindle as these stick often. may also be worthwhile to ring a turbo repairer, we have a couple of times and have had great response from them when we needed any info on setting one up.

Cheers m8 for the help
Unfortunately i havent got KTS but i do have VAG com so i was ale to operate the solenoid today and it all works except is seems as if the Actuator rod is getting sticky and sometimes not opening the wastegate fully and therefore overboosting , this I presume is causing the ecu to go into some form of los and restricting the revs until you stop and key off/on again. Sprayed some wd40 onto it and got it moving fully again, cleared codes and gave it a test run and codes havent come back and no loss of power so fingers crossed. anyway with rod sticking i was getting 1.3 bar on my pressure gauge - is that too much boost for this little a2??? what is the norm pressure..... cheers

Is it a Garrett turbocharger incorporated in the exhaust manifold with a side mounted intercooler.

If so boost is 2.3 bar absolute. Smiley So if your getting 1.3 bar pressure that sounds about right. Cool Wink Smiley

Yeah i think its a garret , its not variable vane though, and the intercooler is mounted behind the Coolant Radiator at the front of car. I checked the price and even for reconditioned one they want about £500-£600 so I just wanna make sure.
and you cant buy the actutor separatley its all one unit to buy so im told by Audi.
Cheers for the help guys .....
