Hi all

My Peugeot 206 2.0 HDI 51 registration keeps cutting out when hot and some times will not start until cold.

Any suggestions please???

Thanks

Thank you for the quick reply.

If the temp sensor was faulty, why would it stop the engine from starting when hot??

Do these engines have crank angle sensors and are they reliable?

Cheers

there ontop of the gearbox housing, held on my a 10mm bolt, maybe take it out and clean in, however id say it would smoke badly if reading wrong.

had it scanned for DTC's?

sounds like a sensor miss reading, ideally, you need to look at the live data. but for the cost maybe worth changing the coolant temp sensor

These do have a crank sensor if it has a rev counter does it kick when cranking for non start (signal comes from engine ecu/crank sensor) which could signal crank sensor failure you can try freezer spray on it or clean it .

Thank you for the replies.

If the crank sensor does kick on a non start,  does this mean the sensor is ok?

I have used that as a sign before but based on the random events i have had with Peugeot in the past would not be 100%. If you can get live data that will confirm 100% or do a resistance check on sensor when cold and then when hot if a major change  that would point to the sensor.

There are also issues with fue pressure regulator on HP pump (can be cleaned up/overhauled with parts from Bosch if Bosch pump) it affects supermarket fuelled cars more so they say

In the absence of any trouble codes when it refuses to start check it does have a fuel supply to the filter from the intank pump,

like someone mentioned earlier, it could be anything with peugeots. when exactly does the fault occur? is it when coming to a stop at lights or will it cut out more randomly?

Hi every one,

Just a quick update on my pug. It behaved itself for the last couple of days, now the problem has reoccurred. As soon as the engine gets warm, it cuts out and wont restart.

If I crank it over on a non start, the rpm gauge moves from about 0 to 250 rpm.

Does this mean the TDC sensor is working correctly or faulty???
