Citroen Dispatch 6 speed gearbox
01.05.11 at 10:55:17

Because of the forthcoming "Low Emission Zone" in London I got myself a 2008 Citroen Dispatch van with the 2 litre HDI diesel engine and six speed gearbox.

The engine oil change and filter was easy enough.  I looked all over the gearbox for the level/fill plug and couldn't find it at all.  Does anyone have any idea where to look.

The local "braintrust" said it was on the back of the diff or in the nearside wheel-arch but that was the five speed boxes.

Sorry Statik, phone Citroen Dealers it will be a Fill/Level Plug and they Probably quote that there's No need to Replace G'box oil.
Just check Level undo plug if some oil Dribbles out or is 1/4 " below the Filler level then that's Okay, will probably be the answer.

Try the Castrol site for type and Qty Example:

That's right, I followed the knob down and there it was.

I have found how, and done the job.  75-80W gearbox oil or 75-90W fully synthetic.  I went for the 75-90W.  The drain is on the bottom of the diff, square 8mm drive plug and it's filled through the plastic breather on the top of the gearbox under the air filter.  The breather cap clips on and off by hand.  It takes 1.9 litres and is a very slow boring job to fill through a long thin pipe.

I found a nice oil supplier called Smith and Allan.  They do all sorts of oil at a decent price, even the vintage oils like Castrol 'R' and monogrades and post them overnight.  They also do 5 ltr of LT71141 ATF for £23.

Thanks again.
