Wow thats really interesting, It does seem a lot of work to have gone to for so few cars but maybe it was easier than manufacturing a complete bodyshell with the added length incorporated. I accept what you now say about safety not being compromised in this car.

Hi,
Thanks for the info and link. I'd read about the blockages etc, but without the diagram I was a bit unsure where everything was. I will look into this.

The blower motor isn't working so I'm working on removing that too, harder than it looks in the photos!

It's a 92 Sovereign.

Thanks,

JC

Hopefully someone who knows more about the heating system on the Xj40 will respond, but I wouldn't buy replacement motors without checking other components first.

For example, on the X300 there are sensors, resistors and and an electronic control module that can all fail and cause the blowers motors not to work.

The fact that one of the motors starts and then slows down again may point to electronics malfunctioning rather than the blower motor(s).

Ro, windows can just "stick", a tip I picked up years ago was to give the guides a quick squirt of white grease, run the window up and down a few times, wipe away any excess. Worth doing once you get yours working again
