For the record I made my first ever e-bay purchase yesterday.

Not Jag related at all, just a video tape Star Trek Voyager 7.13 which completes the collection.  Price paid £2.20 with P&p 2.50

Is this starting small or what.

Just hoping all works out OK, the seller seems to have very good feedback, over 1500 positive coments and just 3 negative over last 12 months

Hi Jaq

Dan is right , it can be addictive. Your purchase should be ok, 99.999999% are.
Watch the sellers T&C however. They are totally illegal.

He is a business (whatever he may say) and his return policy is illegal.

You can return within 7 days for a full refund if you wish (Distance Selling Regulations)
and items lost in post are his legal responsibility

Phil , i dont want to get into a debate about this, but if you sell your kitchen table on ebay cuz you no longer need it , would you declare that to the tax man to ?

just a question

No I wouldn't. There is a difference between selling your kitchen table on Ebay (or anywhere else) and having over 500 items listed on an online auction house at any one time.
The guy is in business , irrespective of where he sources his goods and as such should act like one. He is buying goods in to sell on at a profit.
He has legal responsibilities to his buyers and indeed to the tax man.
Now.....................what have we talked about in previous threads about businesses ripping people off ?

A tax dodging business (if he is doing so) is ripping every one of us off.
A business seller who is adding £1.00 insurance into his shipping is ripping off the buyer as the buyer needs no additional insurance. The only insurance he needs is the legal responsibility the seller has to ensure the buyer gets his goods. etc etc etc

Shall take note of what you say.

Sellers feedback about 97% it a guy called Jim who seems to have a shop in Barking.

We have all the next gen on video, seeking only 7.12 for deep space nine.

The original series a bit more patchy.  We had them all on DVD but series 2 got stolen in a burglary last June.  Trying to get all on video as well though.

There are 3 or 4 Babylon 5 we are after and Blake seven tape 3 assuming that 14 was the last UK one available.  Definitely avoiding US seller from a compatibility and posting point of view.

Think it is a 14 day return policy for that seller but if its a duff video tape I would probably write it off to experience and try again.

As I wrote 99.999% od Ebay deals are fine. It can be great source of sought after items.
Things only go wrong when they go pear shaped (if you know what I mean)
I was essentially advising you that if the film does not arrive he is responsible for a full refund or replacement whatever he may state on his listings. It is not at the Post Offices discretion if you have not paid for insurance.

I'm a Space 1999 fan myself...although the DS9 episode "Our man Bashir" was quite funny.   Have you ever seen the 200th episode of SG1...it's a classic even if you are not a died in the wool Sci-fi fan?

So far everything I have sucessfully bid on has arrived and no problems.

This includes the Voyager tape, a brown wade canal boat and what I think is meant to be a naval office decorative decanter with the figure sitting on a barrel with 6 tot glasses hanging round the base.  One of the tot glasses had clearly at some point had a broken handle well repaired but with crack still showing. I cant argue for a bid of £2 though.  I bid on it with about 5 minutes to spare and no previous bid.  Hes a lot of fun stamped foreign which I believe means post first world war so assumed German.

I may get addicted to this game.

The top one is a complete replacement bumper for XJR...I think the second one is the lower apron only (keeping original bumpers) for the XJ Sport.

How can they say "Fully Restored" in the title, and then half way down the description say "while not immaculate"?

And the work that has been done is just what you'd need to do to just about any XJ-S I'd say.

How many times on these forums have Keith or I discussed the massive difference between 'restore' and 'repair' ?

You are quite right Jagkid, the repairs mentioned are standard run of the mill XJS repairs.
Now................................to what standard ????????????

I've always felt that a restored car has had everything replaced or refurbished...every part of the car was touched in one way or another. Anything less than that falls under varying degrees of "freshened up".

Nowadays a quickie respray and new front brake pads seem to qualify use of the term "restored".

Cheers

It depends on the car.  If it's a modern/recent car, it has been Remanufactured, not "restored".

If it's an Antique or Classic, then you use the term "Restored".

I learned about this distinction between Restoration and Remanufacture from one of the first Antique Car Collectors in the US,  Mr. Don Peterson senior, who started "rescuing" cars during and after WWII, since so many were being melted.

Peterson and his car-crazy friends saw the need to rescue, restore, and preserve the "Brass Era" cars which were by then, abandoned if not melted. Then he started rescuing cars from other decades because if they were not being melted, they were being crushed.

I agree the term Restoration is used generically to mean any car that has been "gone over" and "restored to it's showroom condition", i.e., before it was sold, regardless of its age.  But Don Peterson would disagree loudly.

Also from Don Peterson I learned the Golden Rules of Old Car Buying, through his magazine, "Car Collector and Car Classics", (now online). I've applied those Rules with my two Jags and I have not been disappointed. Don knows his stuff.

regards,
Jos

Er....um...so, what is the distinction ? If the same process is used in either case, then the terms could be used interchangably....other than 'restored" just sounds more appropriate for an older car.   Smiley

for you and me,  none,  because the end result is the same.  for Don Peterson, the man credited with inventing Car Collecting and Restoration in the USA,  a lot of difference.

Then there's the concept of "Rebuild", which he says is totally different from Remanufacture and Restoration.

Huh

Hi Nick, If you mean the XJS 3.6 in Roly's post Reply No 29, I agree. I clocked it and decided that they must have transferred the XJSs original wheels to an XJ6 saloon, which then donated its wheels to the XJS!? Doesn't look too bad though in my view.
Wonder if it will start a fashion? Smiley Cheers, Archie.

Arrrrrgh  Shocked Think I am turning into an ebay addict here.  I have just been through my paypal transactions and discovered I have spent about £300 on various items, mainly sci fi videos in the last couple of weeks.

I have now got a feedback of 30 from sellers and the postie seems to deposit loads of pressies for me on almost a daily basis. Ralph keeps saying is it still Christmas every day

A couple of problems. One a seller not received a paypal transaction and one wrong item which was a buffy box set. The seller has said if I send it back she will send me the correct one but to me that is more hastle than it is worth.

My video hit list to complete various sets is decreasing though.

Hi BB

Got Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Next Generation complete.

Babylon 5 just needs Series 3 complere 4.12, 4.13,5.12, 5.13 assuming they are not like Voyager where series 1 and 2 were slightly shorter

Quite a lot of stargate but 10 tapes required to complete series 1 to 6 on video.

Needing 3 Star Trek original series though have it all complete on DVD.

A few Blake 7, Farscape and X Files crusade and the first episode of Battlestar Galactica required.

Think after the current Buffys I am bidding on/waiting for I will need series 1 pt 2 and series 7 so not doing too badly.

We have various things on DVD but its getting the VHS sets complete on shelves that is more important.

Still working on this hit list but I am sure I will get there in the end

Seems a lot for a rusty old spanner, looks like an old one we had at home when I was a child.

Not gold plated so far as I can see so whats special about it to justify  a price probably 10 times or more its true worth.

its not so much its actual value, but desirability, that is what drives the price up as they are few and far between

It’s actual value is what ever the last person mug paid for it. This is a figure completely different to it’s true value! That’s why auctions are good for things people might want since more likely than not a higher than “a true value” is likely to be realised.

ebay ( or sellers on it )is no different to any other 'seller' in the world , be that a private individual or large corporation like Jaguar,

think about it , Jaguar do not sell cars for the cost of the parts plus the cost of putting them together and any other associated cost ( for cost in other words ) , they increase the price for profit, but not only that ( ford tried it...mass car sales with a mass car, didnt work ) they increase the price to an amount they think the customer will pay for the' image' of the item they are buying, more margin in effect, for nothing except brand image

in the case of the spanner, it probably cost pence to make , put it in a tool box, and it ' adds' value to the whole set in that it makes it a complete set, given that its decades old, and few sets remain, let alone intacct, people will pay whatever amount they can justify to complete the set they have, this increases the price of the item,....supply and demand ,
today i paid £7 for a jaguar spanner for my own tool box, the spanner in its self is not worth that amount as a tool , in fact i have several 15/13mm spanners in my tool cabinet already , but i am missing a Jaguar branded spanner for my XJS toolbox, so i thought that it was a reasonable cost to complete the box,

take a picture by a grand master, the sum of its parts ( canvas/board oil paint and varnish ) dont add to much , but the desirability of the picture ( for whatever reason ) drives the price up,

i would not say i am a mug ( i know it was not directed at me , but i am included in the expression), but i'm no different to anyone who goes to a shop and pays without question the price on the tag.........but you have to price match

Thats a shame I didn't know, I have a Jaguar 13/15 spanner which got mixed up in my toolbox, the jaguar toolset went with the XJ40 when I sold it.

I would have given it to you had I known

Think I have a Jaguar branded socket set lurking in the back of my car (will check branding but I think it is) mean it has some value even though it really doesnt mean than that much to me.

I regard a tool as a tool. Does the Jaguar stamp on my exhaust boxes mean if I replace it its worth something, I think it is unlikely.

Could possibly be that the adjustable spanner I remember might have come from dads old S type though I doubt it. Dont think I have it now anyway but my brother possibly might as he still lives in the same house we moved to in 1975 as a new build in 1975. My brother has always been more of a horder than I am.

Right across the back seats of course Smiley! This is why I need an estate type vehicle, as any saloon immediately becomes a two seater once he's on board. If it wasn't for that I would be diving a Jaguar as my daily car. I have been looking a bit sideways at the X Type but it's just a bit too 'dishonest' for me, (unless the prices come down dramatically, that would colour my thinking!). Cheers, Archie.

I used to have an X type saloon . It is actually very entertaining to drive , especially on fast A  & B roads . I wouldnt discount another but do prefer my V70 T5 - faster in all aspects , more luxurious and holds sooooooooo much stuff .

Sounds very suspicious to me. Shocked Firstly American Presidents use Cadillacs or some such I think - certainly not an english motor associated with our Royal Family! Secondly Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan had been and gone before this car was built. Grin

It's not far from me - I might go and take a look if I haven't got any paint that I need to watch dry Roll Eyes Roll Eyes. There are plenty of funeral parlours in Wickford - far more likely to be the source than US Presidents!!

And besides that, I'm pretty sure that when a US president travels abroad it involves several aircraft, including cargo transports carrying vehicles for the pres and all the secret service agents, etc.   Then again, maybe I've been watching too many movies.

A weekend in the UK probably only costs a  million dollars or so, all told   Cheesy

I think I'm right in saying that the US has traditionally trusted our security and don't bring all the paraphanalia with them to the UK. Mind you I don't think Dubya has been over since 9/11 so things might have changed. In any case, government transport here is armour-plated XJ's and for the Queen a special Roller. A DS420 it is definitely not and hasn't been since 1960(ish) when the Duke of Edinburgh had an argument with Daimler! Smiley Smiley

Hi All

It may have been used in a Presidential visit, but not to carry the president himself.

When I owned a chauffeuring division within my security company we had a contract with GCS (Government Car Service) and took part in the Clinton visit to London.

We supplied drivers with both Jaguar S Types and a Grand Voyager which took part in the motorcade but carried American Embassy Staff and visitors, not Clinton himself.

I seem to remember as the other poster said, his vehicle and bodyguards vehicles were flown in and used for thier use solely.

Regards

Chris

Hi Darcy. A real bargain but, Pepperpots? On a 40? Did you check that they will fit? Never seen that one done yet. Smiley I'm thinking of the stud to hole line up, PCD I think it's called. Cheers, Archie.

the PCD should be fine, its the ' offset ' that might cause a problem,

this is the relationship of the depth of the inside of the wheel to the hub assembly and how far it throws the wheel in or out of the wheel arch

The PCD is exactly the same as BB states.
Genuine Jaguar pepperpots will foul the front calipers but most of the copies will fit ok.
Jaguar wheels will be stamped GKN and carry the Jaguar part number.
Not all Pepperpots however were made by GKN, some have a very slightly different offset and will therefore fit.

I have seen them fitted with use of spacers ( not recomended) and even by grinding a few mm off the edge of the brake caliper in order to clear (Definately not recomended)

They may be cheap but ( in my view)  do not look right on the XJ40. Remember also they are usually shod with 205/70/15 tyres which just look odd (small and narrow) on a Basil.

Yes, as I understand, fitting spacers or grinding the calipers will make them fit. My xjr bumpers and side skirt will be arriving soon, so a wider stance may suit it. However, 205 does seem a bit small. Will 225 fit?
Anyway, I have to go and collect the alloys now, near bath. Might be an alright drive. I more worried about getting lost once of the A303. Wink

The problem is , Pepperpots are a 6.5J rim whereas the Basil rims are 7J or 8J.
225s will almost certainly fit but will be a little 'stretched' on the rim and probably will not sit right (visually).

Bottom line is, the Pepperpots are not really right for the Basil even though they can be made to fit. Same goes for the Starfish as fitted to the XJS.

That is one reason why pepperpots can be bought so very cheaply these days. Few people want them in reality.

I'd wager that the winning bidder will not recieve the interior, struck by lightening or something.

A couple of years ago I 'won' a set of door wood for my xjs from said seller on ebay, also for silly money. I paid immediately with paypal and received an email about a week later saying 'someone had broke into the workshop and stolen them' The seller then refunded my money without any arguments.

I never believed his story, more like he didn't want to sell them for the winning price!

Hmmm...
I also won something from him recently.
I was after a blower motor for my XJR for the usual reason of non operation on low speeds. I won a pair and they were delivered but the one I needed was damaged as the recirc flap was loose from the operating arm.

I emailed the seller and got no response!!  Angry

So in frustration I used the electronic bits in my original casing and luckily for me it worked perfectly.

So poor service but I got the result in the end with a bit of faffing around. Smiley

Cheers

Chris

Perhaps, but all the average Ebayer will see is a finished auction for a full Jaguar interior for less than £25.00 and that essentially sets a new benchmark for XJ40 interior prices.
Once fees etc have been taken from that, he has made barely £20.
That is a full days work for £20 !

Ebay is full to the brim of sellers like this, often with good feedback as buyers don't leave appropriate feedback and just shrug their shoulders.
See this guy
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/i.graves/ebay.html
(at least he left feedback)

At the end of the day, a company cannot begin to consider running at those sort of prices. The result is that genuine suppliers will disappear and the only place the enthusiast will be able to go is the majors. Not many of those will deal with older models.
So, who are you left with to get parts from ?
The tax dodging 'know nothings' that hover around Ebay.
Ebay won't be around for ever ( neither will the sellers )
There are 3 scrap yards local to me, two of them have now closed their doors to Joe public.........why ?
They are both p****d off with people turning up and expecting to pay lower than Ebay prices for parts. Prices that quite simply cannot be maintained if you plan to stay in business.
Both just do recycling and export now.

And yet, sellers like this guy continue to sell and profit as buyers are simply seeking a cheap part and , thinking short term , believe they have got a bargain.

With regard to the shipper question you asked.
Steve and Vince are spot on. PF (excellent in my view) would do it but without an account you will pay almost £20. There are a few PF resellers ( again , watch the illegal Ebay ones) who are very cost effective.

Haha  Grin You so funny.  Grin

This is the first time I looked through the XJ-S stuff in an age - My oh my there is some rubbish on there these days. yes I know buyer beware, but I do feel sorry for those that buy what they think is a bargain because the seller says "not available anymore" or over inflates the new price in their advert it is such a shame as the medium could be so good but is let down by crooks (mostly businesses I might add)

I will tend to look for private sellers in future - but I do know what will and will not fit.

Did I find anything worth a bid??? Yes a large spanner  Wink

Steve

as the medium could be so good but is let down by crooks (mostly businesses I might add)

I agree but would like to quantify that statement a little.
It is indeed mostly businesses but many are businesses masquerading as privateers or operating illegally in another form.
The instant you buy with a view to sell at a profit you are a business (or trader if you prefer). No ifs buts or maybes, that is the law of the land.
As such you are liable to declare earnings to the tax man etc etc (yes I know zzzzzz) Many many don't and that is painfully apparent in the prices that they sell goods for. They also of course have legal responsibilities as a trading business. I would go as far as to say to a man they ignore each and every one. Probably because they think that they are not a business so none apply.

Then there is the legit business (as in your link) that ignore just about every legal duty regarding mail order sales (which is what an Ebay purchase is )
By law they need to show clearly full contact details, company registration number (if registered with Companies House), their VAT registration number (if registered) and show clear (and legal) returns policy. They also need to comply with DSR.
Don't tell me Baywatch (and associate IDs such as 1twolf) are not Vat registered (or should be since we know who they actually are).
However, next time you buy from them, ask for a Vat reciept (it is your right to ask for one and they are legally bound to supply one )
You may be surprised at the response (or lack of)
They are just the obvious ones.

These people are trading illegally, again , no ifs buts or maybes.
They are cheating the system.
They are thieving from the system.
You and I are the system.

Ebay does NOTHNG to discourage any of the above and this is clearly not applicable to the motor trade only.
It is rife on Ebay in just about every market place, the DVD/Phone/Video game market probably being the biggest sufferer.

Ebay is actually still a great place to buy, if you know exactly what you are looking for as goods often sell for well below 'market 'price. It is a competetive world out there. Sadly, the only way to be competetive as a seller on Ebay is to swim with the bottom feeders too.
All the time however, we, as buyers are purchasing from the illegal traders we merely enhance their stranglehold on the market place.
For me that is a high price to pay (in the longterm) for sake of saving a couple of quid.

if it were me i would be knocking on his door and taking the interior away,

a similar thing just happened to me,

i won a rear cage for the XJS , it had been fully refurbished and was a collection only item , i won it for £5.50 , yes, five pounds and fifty pence

arranged a courier to collect it ( £17 ), and three times they wouldn't let it go , finally had to six weeks later on the fourth attempt ,

must have really smarted doing all that work and practically giving it away , lol

its now out my back yard Cheesy

I bought an XJR bumper of that baywatch guy monday last week. Still waiting for it to arrive. Got the consignment number of baywatch and apparently, it is still in the depot in birmingham, after being collected a week ago. Phoned them up and they are now looking for it. They seem to think that the stickers fallen off. Shouldn't be hard to find considering the size.

Remember it is NOT your responsibility to chase up the courier. The responsibility of delivery lies with Baywatch , no one else.

Looks like it would make a good project (I've just been reading about the Mk10/V12 Cool so I'm full of enthusiasm - just as well I don't have any facilities!). But I think the bumpers are ugly Tongue. Did they really make them like that in the early days? I thought it was just late MGBs & Midgets - and it didn't do much for their looks either in my view!

I hope a Jag guy buys this one and brings it back to life. There can't be many of the 4-speed cars left.  Worth doing, I'd say, and on first look its far from being a basket case.

Nope - I still have too many jags  Sad otherwise as it is so near would be worth a punt...

That front grill would have to go though - yuk, much prefer the Jaguar one being that much more subtle.

I had one of these (a 420 actually) a few years back that I rebuilt from a heap.

Fantastic cars.

Best

but have you seen how many suckers there are bidding. the daft thing is, it would probably have been a fleet car, and the royals would have just been another posh customer!

Have you watched the video footage shown on the listing ?
It show about 10 secs of her turning up at some event, sitting in the back !
I wonder if her name is on the logbook or, as you say simply a favoured car of hers from the Royal fleet.

I see it didn't get much interest last time..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Princess-Dianas-Jaguar-MUST-SEE_W0QQitemZ300122742592QQihZ...

It was not a state car but one of a fleet used by the royals for engagements.  It was not Diana's car...just used by her.

to someone who wants to buy it , break it and make profit.....yes

but to someone getting another car up and going for as little money as possible, its worth what ever he wants to pay for it.......

at the end of the day ( and we always seem to get to this point in this endless argument about ebay ) , the buyer decides what the car/any other ebay item is worth, the seller isn't ramming it down his throat with his arm twisted behind his back,,,,

if you want a better deal do the bloody research to ensure your not being riped off, otherwise, don't complain when things arnt what you wanted

Sorry Roly, Perhaps I was the only one who didn't make the connection re the leaper! Anyway, we've had endless discussion on here about bonnet leapers, and I thought that the concensus was that although they may be illegal (no definite ruling on that), the MOT doesn't cover their fitment. Strange thing is Ebay.

Have a look at these three listings. All have now closed but ran pretty much all together .

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120164988823&ssPageNam...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150163094168&ssPageNam...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270168711627&ssPageNam...

Looking at the 3 descriptions I cannot believe the differences in the prices that they finished on.
The green (first one) V12 has no bulkhead!
Hastings is quite close so i thought I would ask a few questions. It was like pulling teeth but eventually got out of him that the bulkhead and floor have rusty holes. Plus the tyres are all 'very low but legal'
So with an MOT due in little more than 3 mths you will looking at major investment ot say the least to get a pass (£500 in tyres plus £000000s to repair floor/bulkhead)

It will be interesting to see what if any follow up there is to each sale.

If I was serious about another V12 right now, I know which one I would have been looking at.

Nope, the green Jaguar that sold for around £1700

Actually not Phil. I was exposing my own prejudices to colours I suppose and I also thought the Daimler was very tidy. I like black. Still, pricewise your choice of the green car makes  sense, and that was the point of your initial post I think. The Daimler was double that. Cheers, Archie.

Archie

It wasn't in actual fact.

The point was how the different descriptions mau affect a buyers perceptions.

The black Daimler certainly looked quite nice in the pic. The description however constisted of little more than :
Nice car, low mileage, very rare (factually incorrect), buy me.
He was clearly after £4k or so and nearly got it due to plenty of bids.

The green Jaguar had excellent pics and a full description which looked very professional and reached a very attractive ( to the buyer) £1700.

The other green Jaguar also reached a good price but the description was , again sparse. He did use the words' stunning' and 'very good'
His answers to my questions however suggest it was neither.

Perhaps the moral here is to be vague in your description when selling a car on Ebay.
Try not to be too honest Smiley

Quite extraordinary.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Princess-Dianas-Jaguar-XJ-Sovereign-100-GENUINE_W0QQitemZ3...

It is astonishing what some people will spend money on.
I can see some degree of Diana connection but £16k ???
From the 'provenence' they show, it was simply one of the cars she was driven about in for crying out loud.
Maybe, just maybe if the car was actually registered to her, the listing makes no suggestion of that however.
What next ?

Quite nice cars those - shame there are no pictures of it and the seller can't work out what the return key is for - hard reading - but plenty of info.

They are a bu&&er to drive like any car of the period but a good project car although spares are rare so you need to be good at making your own. I assume it is the saloon version.

On the contrary. Once you have got used to the Wilson Pre-Selector gearbox they are very pleasant to drive. You just have to remember they do not stop as quickly as cars with disc brakes.

For the amount of work it requires the buy it now price seems about right. It is a standard Conquest and not a Conquest Century.

Engine is uprated to 100bhp with uprated head and twin SU Carbs and was allegedly capable of some 90 odd MPH (Though I wouldn't have the nerve to take my old bus that fast!!! Shocked).

Externally there is a broad chrome stripe across the boot lid and a chrome stripe up the middle of the bonnet.

It is alleged that a Conquest Century actually won a saloon car race at Silverstone in the 50s, but I have been unable to trace any confirmation of this.

Sorry not into this digital photography lark. Still on good old fashioned film.

Interior is not too bad considering the age, but certainly not concours. Engine ditto.

Cars are for using not for looking at.

Strictly speaking she is my wife's car. I brought it for her a few years ago as an anniversary present. Mind you I seem to do all the work on it and most of the driving. She has been known the wash and polish it occasionally.

The picture was taken in Holland at a DLOC International Rally. The picture is also on a DLOC mouse mat. I have one in front of me as I type.

She still starts on the button, (the car that is not the wife  Smiley) - yes the good old push button starter - even after being laid up over winter.

An '86 V12 Cabriolet for £2500. That's frighteningly cheap. I will never be selling mine at that rate! Cheers, Archie.

BTW, the XJC conversion is another historic car with destroyed provenance, due to a lack of respect for heritage. Sad.

Anyone know how true the comment made by the seller is? Our resident historian David maybe.

I have never heard about this and can find no reference to it anywhere.

I think it might be a bit OTT, says he with a DC XJ-S  Grin

That 1990 XJ-S Plinth looks nothing like the plinth on my 1991 XJ-S.

He clearly states that he has never seen one like that on an XJ-S before and I suspect he is being honest.

I wonder if the PO installed it from another Jag model before the XJ-S changed owners.

However, the lock location on that one would not fit my 1991 XJ-S.

I guess we're back to discussion of the plinth. I didn't comment because I don't have enough knowledege to know whether this was a factory option. However, my instant thought was - WHY? Talk about 'gilding the lily'! Cheers, Archie.

"The information display is reading “Stability control failure” this is only the steering angle sensor failure and will only require sensor replacement and obviously the ABS warning light is illuminated due to this. This does not affect the drive of the car; the car drives beautifully having a new engine only covered 63K miles."

Just thought I wuld post the above quote from Ebay (3.2 XJ with nickasil replacement engine).
If it's such an easy fix, why does he not fix it prior t sale?

Cheer

I suppose I could get some heat elements for rear seats and wire em up to the front switches.
Trouble is they are for sale on Ebay about 11 quid but the sellers are "the boys from the black country" and we all know what their service is like. Sad

I think these seats are for the houses up north with outside toilets.

Looks abit drastic with a 13 amp plug on the end.

Might get yer electrodes burnt. Shocked

I had a similar experience recently regarding a Triumph TR6 on ebay. The wording was almost identical...family emergency, delivery only, collection not an option etc.
I reported it to ebay and sent them the email correspondence I had exchanged with the seller. I was surprised to get a reply back from ebay indicating nothing was abnormal. Yeah right !!!
I actually got an official-looking confirmation email from ebay confirming this seller is trustworthy.....yet with a zero feedback record?.
I doubt ebay would send anyone similar confirmation about me and I have almost 400 positive feedbacks on my account.
Whoever is performing this scam has prepared it quite thoroughly.

Hi NEWXJ40S, Your link was to the DVLA which seems odd. Was that what you intended, as there is no apparent connection with a grey Jaguar? Cheers, Archie.
