X-type clutch adjustment
29.11.2007 at 16:26:45

Hi, is anybody able to advise on a "notchy" gear change on my x-type. The clutch pedal is biting at the top end of pedal, and i would like to know if it is possible to adjust the clutch and if this would cure the problem ?
Also can anyone recommend a good jaguar service/repair centre (non dealer) in or near birmingham,
cheers

Sounds like a clutch fault, as the clutch plate wears the biting point will move near the top of pedal travel. Does the clutch slip at all? Put handbrake on, engine idling, select 4th gear and then try to "drive" the car by letting clutch out, if it keeps on running then it's slipping. I'm not sure it would have a cable to adjust, I would imagine they have a hydraulic clutch that adjusts itself, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

You mean the Toyota is slipping  Shocked. If the clutch is ok, then it should stall.
