Weber kit for E Type V12 + XJR-S 6 litre engine
19.05.2009 at 19:46:17

Hello,

I have the chance to buy a very fine XJR-S 6 litre with only 40.000
miles and I dream of fitting it with 6 Webers on my 1972 Jaguar E
Type V12 Roadster with 4 speed manual gearbox. I already have
uprated with AJ6 TT Super Sport exhaust, polybushes, Konis etc..
The XJR-S engine has a big parts  availability problem with Zytec etc.. AND: I already have 2 x Jaguat XJ-S V12 and 1 x Jaguar XJ 5.3 C. So
3 fuel injected cars are ok, for the E type I prefer a more ''racing'' feeling, raw, loud, thirsty...  Smiley

The XJR-S engine that I could buy comes without the fuel injection components and without the distributor, but for a very good price!!! (around 1400 GBP). I already have the sausage type air filters for the Weber-kit. I hope that anyone has done this conversion (it does not matter if with 5.3 or 6.0 engine)

Who has experience or ideas for me concernung this modification. I
live in Valencia, Spain and here nobody has done this before...

Here is a video of Jay Leno's E Type V12 with WEBERS!!!

http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_player.shtml?vid=1088821

I hope you can give me good advices
Thank you and best regards from Spain
Carlos

Er have a look at this ! http://www.kelsey-forums.co.uk/cgi-bin/jwm/YaBB.pl?num=1233100335/30 ;

We build possibly 2 Webered power v12's a month at the moment and I think now we have carried out over 120 examples of this configuration .

I am very happy to get a positive feedback concerning this Weber conversion. Normally all people recommend NO to go this way.  I can imagine that adjustment and tune up will be difficult and the engine never will run as smooth as EFI does. But for me the E Type can be an "old school" car with raw and harsh feeling, with some hot spots, but amazing every time I hear the engine running!!!  Smiley

Every detail about the conversion is important for me at this moment.
Thank you and best regards from Valencia

Your E-type looks stunning Carlos  and after watching WRD's youtube clip I just need to raise about 3 large for the conversion kit for my V12 E-type. The Webers certainly look neater than the 4 strongbergs

Hello,

I have ordered the Weber kit and alreay bought the XJR-S engine!!!!!   Grin

Then converting my 4 speed manual E Type V12 to the 6 litre XJR-S engine + Webers, I must consider the following modification points, right?

1) the oil sump from E Type or even more modifications?
2) water pump from XJR-S or E Type?
3) oil filter from XJR-S?
4) spark plugs from XJR-S or E Type?
5) a high pressure recirculating fuel pump or the regular E Type one (part number or which one to buy?)
6) modifications to the bellhousing attchments?

Thank you and best regards from Valencia.

Ok quite a bit more than just sump, you also need to modify or change over either the front timing cover or modify yours ...see pic below

Water pump will have to come from the V12E as will oil filter and blanking plate on the side of the block you will need from the e-type.
The water rails also need to come from the e-type but remember the XJRS has METRIC bolts so you must use these bolts and NOT the bolts from the V12 e . The Block is NOT metric thread but the heads are !!!!
