To get the ball rolling , are we all in favour of a 2010 meeting along the same lines ie: at a small hotel , possibly moving on to a car meeting on the Sunday .

Lindy and I would definitely like to attend another meeting, arranged just as Alan suggests.
We will make sure we keep the whole weekend free next time, so that we can join a Sunday Starship excursion.
Regards to all
John

Driving in convoy with you Alain reminded me again how fabulous our cars look in motion.
When we peeled away at our respective turnoffs, it was with real sadness that our 'run' was over.
It would be great next year to include a small road rally in the weekend, so that we can see our cars driving.
I've taken part in a few, from gentle cruises to timed events.
I'd be happy to help.
As a second thought, if any SSOC members would like to visit the picturesque town of Honfleur in Normandy for a weekend, I be happy to organise something from here.

Re Starships meeting at Honfleur.
Great idea Philippe, but Lindy and I would hope to combine it with our annual French excursion. The only logical ferry crossings for us would be Portsmouth to Caen/Cherbourg/St Malo, which we feel are hard to justify for a 2 day stay. (100miles East to Dover on abysmal British roads, only to go 150 miles West from Calais to Honfleur would not be our preferred option. Newhaven - Dieppe might be available, which would be fine. I only mention all this as I presume other SSOC members will have similar issues, subject to where they live - Roly being a case in point at the Western reaches of the M4). However, please count us "in" subject to the practicalities.
We are basically VERY keen on the idea of a French meet.
With best wishes
John & Lindy

Are there any ferries out of Portsmouth/Southampton across the channel these days as that is at least more central to the south of England.
Remember watching the hovercrafts pull up on the beach from childhood day trips to Southsea and I know the IOW is served from Portsmouth.
Sorry if I have butted in on the SSOC owners only preserved thread
Not sure if hovercraft are even still in service these days

Thanks for that. Was interested in the return trip to Santander, not sure I would really want to be shipped straight back to work

I'm another following all this with interest
. There's the catamaran out of Weymouth gets you to St Malo in a few hours. Stops off at Jersey and Guernsey if you fancied a longer break. Expensive but a starship or two driving around Guernsey would be a sight to behold!! Good deals can be had in the off season. There's also a traditional ferry which is an overnight trip.

OK , that's only three of us so far for a 2010 meeting in the UK , we need more cars than the 2009 meeting as a minimum , so please get those cars working and place your interest here .
Spread the word , where ever, and when ever , you can .

You may get more coverage if you post in the "events" section. Alan.
As not everyone may read this part of the board.

Roly , you do realise the three of us so far who have shown an interest in a 2010 meeting doesn't include your good self , i am still waiting for your response , but i can tell you this , if your not going , then nor am i ,
I will put something in the events section as soon as i have a firm commitment from all the members of the S.S.O.C , just you and Matt left to reply .

Will it be at the same venue?
As I was 3/4s dead on the last meet.. then I could be completely brown bread by 2010.. I just hope I am not telling porkie pies here.
Nearer the date would be good for me to say yes.
plus some pics of me to say " I was there"!
