It can be a difficult job getting the pipe out of the tank but it sounds as if you are going to have to do this anyway.
Maybe best thing is to remove the pipe and tak it to a hydrayulic fittings supplier. They should be able to replace it with stainless braided PTFE for £20 to £30. If you can find and cut out the bad bit you will then be able to measure it for a jointing ferrule.
Cheers

Hi,

I had this problem on my Scorpio 24v. The local garage depressurised the fuel line, then cut out the bad pipe and replaced it with flexible fuel hose (Halfords approx £6) slid 30cm over each end of the old pipe. They secured it with 2 jubilee clips at each end. When I queried this they said that this was the method that the local Porsche dealer used on 944's which commonly rust their fuels lines at the rear and to be fair this repair has never leaked and lasted a few years now.
