"As for the turbo and supercharger options cited they are just a pure admission of failure"
So the turbo cars that dominated F1 with only 1500cc were a failure?
All the modern highly economical, high performance turbo diesels and cars like the XKR a failure too I suppose?
Think of all those manufacturers spending £millions on tuned and variable length inlet tracts, are all those curvy pipes just to make the engine look nice?
You just keep polishing that lump of Imp alloy, Why not stick 4 of them together and see if it beats an XF V8.
Cheers

You know something?
You make an art of trolling don't you??

This kind of comment is an example of how pathetic the attitude is here.

I mean , how on earth can you compare a fixed CR engine like a turbo diesel with a variable CR engine like a large naturally aspirated petrol engine??
Or a 30 year old F1 turbo engine with anything in the production environment?
Don't you know any physics?

Modern cars are more concerned with CO2 emissions/specific fuel consumption etc.
Adding to that a great deal of science goes into such things as electronic DI diesel injectors etc.
(My brother worked for CAV Rotod on ECU & R & D, btw).

As for your XF V8. Show me the fuel consumption my friend.
You will have nothing to be proud of at all.
All those engines GUZZLE gas like it's going out of fashion.
They are a total anachronism in a world governed by rigid speed limits and high priced fuel anyhow, and you know it.

There are good reasons why, but I won't bore you with the details.
You seem to know it all anyway.  Cool

As a brand new member to this forum i can only say that leaving out the tongue lashing that is going on in this post the comments on head design were intresting, would it not be better to start at the begining with a new post and explain in simple terms where the errors are in the basic design, we all know that during production design compromises are made, money, space etc, and yes i understand that you are doing this for a living, but he who shouts the loudest does not mean anybody is going to listen, so would that not be a good idea or should i just keep quite.

here is a selection from the brand of forum members here...

"You just keep polishing that lump of Imp alloy, Why not stick 4 of them together and see if it beats an XF V8"..

"why don't you just SOD OFF"...

"we grown ups will continue to enjoy our big boys toys away from your infantile 'my head is better than your head' ramblings."

"Multivalve's attempts to sell us his wares"

With this kind of stupidity when I'm working 15hrs a day on advanced porting techniques, you may understand someone getting a little "p..ss..d off".

Also the Jaguar "religion" forbids me from criticising the Jaguar "Allah Akbar".

Draw your own conclusions.
You can start a new thread, but no doubt the moderators will close it down like they did all the others.. Sad  Angry
