N/A tag
21.04.2010 at 10:54:01
On the front page N/A is being displayed against the last post on some threads. Have asked Kris why this might be.

I have only seen it once and that was in the "classic"section but clicking refresh cured it.

I have not forgotten this ongoing issue!
As an update, it is probably useful to be aware that the Admin of the Forum is now administered in-house at Kelsey Publishing. I feel that this may be advantageous.
With regard to the 'n/a' tags that have been appearing in the 'Last Post' column, the new person in charge of Admin is arranging for a daily cleanup of the problem. This should result in much less difficulties.
The total resolution to the issue is longer term, but will be looked at. I'll report again when appropriate. Regards, Archie.

I do a daily check on this (in mod mode), around mid-day, but I've only had to do any corrections a couple of times. That's because Roly always gets there first! We've been lumbered with the regular checks and Forum correction (which takes about 5 to 10 minutes each time in total), because Forum Admin say they can't find the cause and don't have the time to fully investigate. Cheers, apax.

I have been watching these N/A's pop up.
for example.
On the tumbleweed thread.. Apax(Archie) posted and it went n/a I repaired it then Julesjag posted and it went n/a.. I repaired it again. Then Jackie posted in the afternoon on the tumbleweed thread and nothing happened.
conclusion
It only happens to male posters in the morning of the 4th monday of the month before 12.00 hrs gmt providing there is a blue moon on tuesday.

Maybe Archie’s correction and Roly’s correction is creating a “double negative" effect.

But when I responded, it disappeared! I'm thinking now that a quick post 'N/A removal' might be the way forward in some (most?) cases. It would save the Mods having to put the Forum in to Maintenance Mode several times a day, to the inconvenience of members and guests?
I intend to try it for a while. Cheers, apax.

i am still having to close down the forum and rebuild the threads upto three time a day.
I feel it happens when members post and then go back and change their post.. resulting in a "N/A".. the boffins have tried to fix this problem.. but with no successssss.
So "get it right first time"
or as Apax has said do another post following on to correct the issue.
"one day the Messiah will come"!

Shame on you Roly!
It's not the forum users causing this problem!
It's a software issue, so get the 'boffins' to earn their paycheck!

As I said the boffins have tried to fix it... but As Apax is ill and Walko isn't about much then there is only me right now to keep shutting the forum down and rebuilding the threads.. i have passed ALL the info I have on the problem to the boffins....
As you know the editor of the JWM mag and our forum boss has left and gone on to work For jaguars so not getting alot of feedback right now.
If I am not on the forum for a few days and no other mods are either then most of the threads will go N/A.. of course they can still be read but don't show up in the "40 last posts section".
