E-type S3 V12 HE / EFI fuel consumption
19.05.2011 at 12:34:01

Hi there everybody!

This is my first posting on this forum.  I did a search on this forum and could not find any reference to "megasquirt" or "EDIS".

I thought I should mention the conversion I did on my E-type to you FWIW.

I basically converted the engine from standard to EFI using the hardware bits from an XJS and I'm using dual Ford EDIS-6 distributorless ignition systems in place of the dissy.

Engine management is done by a Megasquirt-2 ECU.  There is a lot more info and pics on my website: www.jaguardiy.net

After the EFI conversion, it went really well and I used the engine to its full potential - until big end seized.  This prompted a re-build and I then also converted the engine to HE spec (11.5:1) with a lightweight flywheel.

Best regards
Philip

Looks totally fab, so clean and tidy. To be fair as everyone knows the XJS engine is basically the same as the E type V12. Think yours looks like it almost could have come out of the showroom yesterday but guess you dont get the damp to cause the rust over in South Africa

Hi Philip,

I’ve started to restore an E Type S3 here in France.
I’ve got 2 wrecked cars and I do one ( I try )with the bits I’ve got.
Because of the status of the engine, only one in poor condition, I’ve decided to get one with EFI coming from an XJS.
Your information are going to be very useful!
I’m far from fitting back the engine in place but for sure I’ll probably ask you a few questions.
(Your link to send you an email on your site does not work)
Regards
Wink
