The REAL reasons Jaguar's XJ13 never raced?

I've been at it again ...  Roll Eyes

Posted some stuff about the quad-cam drive as well as what I consider to be the real reasons the XJ13 never raced - includes a picture of a Malcolm Sayer drawing of what could have been a 3-litre XJ13 replacement.

Rather more than the finished car will be worth I suspect.

A diasagreement took place recently  over the diplacement of the very first XJ13 (as used and tested by Norman and on dispay in the museum), I said it was 5 litres but my colleage said it was 4.6. I had never heard of the latter figure being used. Who is accurate please? Cheers, apax.

Hi - all six of the prototype quad cam V12 engines were 5.0 litres. This includes both engines installed in the XJ13.

I have been gradually sifting through my most recent acquisition - a collection of personal files from the late Claude Baily of Jaguar. Baily, as many of you will already know, was one of the prime architects of the legendary XK engine as well as the quad-cam V12.

I have just posted some hitherto unknown and unpublished material relating to the XK and later V12. I hope you find it of interest.

I would appreciate any recollections/additions etc
