Daimler coupe bodywork
11.08.2011 at 17:04:59
Hi folks, havent been here for while. After almost year the bodywork on my daimler coupe just started. After removing front wings it didnt look so bad at all,but then after removing front windscreen..here it goes. But we were expecting that anyway...The windscreen panel was filled up by pieces of steel and foam
...
Would anyone know by any chance about some good second piece, maybe someone has some jag for breaking...
Cheers

Yikes, you've got your work cut out there!! The best advice you could have will come from either BB or XjRestorations (particularly with regard to parts). To get an idea of cost, and availability, you might want to research Robey, Manner's and SNG Barratt's websites. I'm glad to say that (so far) I haven't met anything that bad myself. Cheers, apax.

Hi,
Got some work there
This is not available as a repair panel - and it is a common area on all series models. Finding a good one in teh breakers yard is not easy.
I always fabricate repair sections for here. It is not an easy area to make. I think I have some images of one we did on the PC at work - I will try and dig them out Monday if I remember
It is an area we really should invest in making a repair section for..............
All the best,
Keith

Hi Keith, I know its not available as a repair panel.Iam surprise that nobody make that windscreen panel as its probably the most problematic area on all XJs. My friend who is doing the body work has already fabricate them,so will post the pictures when i get time to call up to him, probably next week.
Yep,meanwhile I have to order coil spring, would you know if coil spring for xj12(sng barratt-about £100) are same as for my xj6 4.2 with aircondition?
Thanks
Mirek

Hopefully you know this already, but if not: Make a jig based on a good car or worst case a new screen with the seal. It would be a pain to find everything is just a bit out when it comes to fitting the screen (OK, I know jaguar weren't too accurate to start with but if you err on the wrong side ......
