Cannot get CD cartridge in changer in boot of XJ to eject - push the eject button and it tries to eject but wont budge. Any ideas?

No disc in player - cartridge is in right way round - if I select CD on headset, I get CDC Error.
Door is fully open - when I press the eject button, I can hear it trying to eject, and see movement of mechanism around cartridge.
Tried normal tricks - sharp taps on cartridge and player whilst pressing ejector (to shock it free), as well as gentle levering forward whilst pressing ejector. Seems stuck fast.

You will need to remove the whole unit. Then remove the casing to get inside.
There will be one of the CDs still loaded. This is what is stopping the cartidge ejecting.
I think the post that the CD holders move up and down on gets dirty and they stick.
So free it all all and clean everything you can see.
The reassemble, power it up and put the cartidge back in and see if it will eject.
If it does, put some CDs in and see if it all works.
Mine did this about 18 months ago. It still occasionally sticks but usually responds to a thump now.

Outcome of this (Jan '12) is that CD now working ok
Unit removed from car (bugger getting at the 8 bolts and even worse refitting them!) and stripped. SV8Predator was correct - it was in fact one of the CDs still loaded. This is what was stopping the cartidge ejecting.
Rebuilt, refitted, cartridge reloaded with my CDs and all working OK since.
Bonus I got to keep 6 CDs from previous owner - 4 krap, 2 OK
