Mk2 Rear Hub removal
29.12.2011 at 19:24:00
I am trying to pull the rear hubs from my Mk 2. I am using a 3 leg puller but I cant shift them. I have tried appying some heat to the centre of the hub but without success. Any suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks Terry

Get a bigger puller!
Here's

James Elliott tackling the rear axle hub on his Interceptor. Same rear axle as the Jag.
Lots of swearing will be involved!

As in my original post, you need a bigger puller. One similar to the photograph. There is no quick and easy way to do this job.
Once you've got hold of a puller that is actually suitable for the job, leave the main nut on the axle shaft (loosened off a few threads) because if you don't, when the taper finally breaks the assembly will fly across the room (demolishing anything in its way, including your goodself if you are in the way).
So again, a bigger puller.
If you are in one of the clubs, they will have one to hire.
Hope this helps.
