DIY Aircon Recharge Kits
28.01.2012 at 21:33:28

Hi Guys, has anyone tried or had success with the DIY aircon top up kits they sell in Halfords? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogI...
It promises that each can gives three top ups and considering the kit is the cost of just one top up in the garage it seems good value (if it works)

My advice is stay away from em... always best to have it all vacced out weighed and changed correctly with the right about of pag oil etc.

I have used um before now.. only to find that the system was overfilled etc. Shocked Shocked ended up with too much pressure.

I paid approx £74 to have full service as my air con had gradually lost effectiveness. Within 2 weeks of the sevice it failed completely due to a leak in the condenser that was probably the cause of the pre service gradual decline. The lead was invisibly at the time of service even with UV flourescent dye.
I would be inclined see if you can find someone who will put in a bit of dye, oil and and top up pressure as cheap as possible and compare this with Halfords. No point a full service if its going to leak out again.
Cheers
