340 Engine and gearbox removal
20.03.2012 at 10:07:33

Hi All
I need to remove the engine and auto gearbox from my 340. I am guessing that from the length of the unit bolted together it would appear I need to raise the front of the car a little or will this come out OK? Ramps would be too high as I wouldnt get the lift from the engine crane. If any of the forum members has done this I would welcome any advice.
Many thanks Terry

Hi, in the past I have always dropped the axle, then lowered the engine/gearbox down to the floor. If i remember right, to remove through the top, the angle you have to lift at rules out an ordinary engine crane (not enough lift) can be done with a high gantry or o'head crane. Been some years since I did one , but out the bottom was OK.

Same here, always removed from below, but the front of the car needs to be very high 30" or so.

Do you know if the engine and gearbox can be separated in the car?
Thanks Terry
