XJR6 Engine Setup (TPS Issues) £235!!!!

Is this really the cost of plugging my car into the Jaguar computer!
I have suspected TPS issues with my 1995 XJR and have some new bits on order, but Jaguar want £235 for what they admit is an hour plugged into the computer. Is this the standard cost of getting this done?

I wouldn't be at all surprised! I've known others who charge a king's ransom just to read out the OBD II fault codes, never mind fixing the fault, the excuse being the cost of the hardware and software they have to invest to provide such a service.
I'm not familiar with the X300 AJ16 R engine management system but I wonder if measuring the TPS output is as simple as that on an XJ40 AJ6 engine which only requires a voltmeter, not a computer!
Try asking the people on the X300 jag-lovers forum if there is a DIY solution :-

I would contact Pico
http://www.picotech.com/
and ask if they have someone in your area.
Up here in the North our local engine management expert will come to your home and do a full engine diagnostics for £69. Thats not just codes read, its the actual values of all the ignition, fuelling and engine management components. I don't know what his hourly rate is at the moment but a couple of years ago it was only £25 per hour.
Cheers
