Hi. new to the 300,had a 98 v8 sport for 7 yrs but the engine lost compression in 6 bores!!! so pretty buggered. now got a 96 xj exec, changed the wheels to 17" gemini wheels coloured code grille surround and added a mesh grille. couple of questions...anyone got a diagram for the exhaust?and what kind of price could you be looking at for cat and right side system, one more thing what coolant is used in the 3.2? thanks for your time all. cheers robo.

Welcome
You will find sparepart overview for the X300 and also most prices on jaguarclassicparts.com
The underfloor cat is around 7-800 GBP
, while the 2 mufflers is 100 and 115 GBP. All original.
Coolant: I believe it's the blue stuff, but I'm sure it's in the owners handbook, Haynes or Jaguar...

Robo, on the anti-freeze front,it would prob have been blue stuff when she rolled off the production line, but nowerdays most people use the green (OATS) stuff, which is good for 5 years. Be aware that the blue and green must not be mixed, it turns to a sludge. I always fit a new thermostat at the same time, you only want to drain the system once and X300 have a tendancy to run below normal temp, genuine stats seem better than patten.
All the best Brian

You could be right Roly, VW use red for their longlife anti-freeze and I know Bluecole do a universal for topping up, if I had just bought a vehicle and did not know what or when the anti-freeze was changed, I would drain and flush, then start again with new stat and longlife antifreeze.

On the subject of coolant, I run the tradittional blue stuff in my jags but the pink VW stuff in motorccles as it gives better corrosion protection.
My understanding is the green OAT is Jap spec and the Orange OAT is Ford spec.
There is rumours that mixing the blue and orange stuff causes it to gel but I have never seen any evidence of this.
Cheers
