Knackered XJR
26.04.2012 at 16:07:55

My poor old XJR has been sitting on the drive now for 2 years, i'm never going to get round to getting it sorted, it needs a new supercharger and runs like a pig and its worth peanuts as it is. Should I be really evil and break it ?

Mick, thought we hadn't heard from you for some time, was your XJR a 6 or 8 ? Has it been diagnosed by a pro? and if so what was the prognosis, hate to see it broken up unless its terminal, but they can be very expensive to repair unless you can DIY.

Its a 6 it was running really bad would only rev to about 2300 then the supercharger got noisy, I needed a car urgently so brought a diesel banger for work, miss the Jag big time but don't think I could afford to run it anyway now, never had it diagnosed Cry.

Unfortunately probably not worth fixing.
There was a bloke writing in JDC magazine last month and he bought a cracking XJR for only £800.
I have a similar dilemna with a couple of my cars. I keep them running, not because I need them but because it keeps the option of bulidin kit cars or doing a full restoration in future. If they developed anything major / expensive they would be broken.
Cheers

Thats what I was thinking, maybe keep an eye out for another cheap XJR as a 2nd car then I have a complete car for spares, but then their is the XJS in the way as well lol.
